By ‘Live’ I mean ‘Affordable Housing for Everyone’.
Working people should not have to live in their cars because they can’t find an affordable place to rent.
Residential development must follow a municipal plan that includes a balance of family homes for modest and mid-level incomes and much more rental accommodation.
We can solve this. Let’s start with an innovative approach to constructionof low-cost rental housing for the service and tourism staff we so desperately need in order to do business in this town. We should look at all alternatives, including ‘tiny’ house solutions and sea-can architecture. As I learned through my Habitat for Humanity experiences, we should enlist future residents and young people to participate in the design and construction of their own homes.
